| Job Description | Job Purpose: To provide drilling engineering support and expertise to Well Planning.
Main responsibilities: Key Functions:
1. Prepare working programs for drilling including: - Evaluation of current drilling operations - Contracting strategies for drilling tangibles and services - HSE assessment and risk analysis - Well functionality, typology & selection - Casing design optimisation - Drilling Technology appraisal & application - Cost and schedule estimation - Design project approval with local authorities
2. Well design, equipment and services contracting, drilling operations including: - Abide by Health, Safety and Environmental regulations - Develop well programs, plans, procedures and schedules, - Draw up operations schedule, requisitions, orders, guidelines, charts, diagrams and other technical documentation and presentations. - Technical evaluation of contractors' tenders - Control and coordinate the timely execution of work conducted by drilling rig, tangibles and services contractors. Review and approve contractors' technical documentation as required. - Study and review drilling reports, technical data, performance indicators and the results of work. Generalize and classify such information. Perform required calculations. - Carry out feasibility studies including developing new implementation proposals. - Promote state-of-the-art techniques and technologies to enhance well operations. - Participate in technical documentation assessment and drawing up the required review, reports and conclusions related to the work carried out. Audit documentation recorded at the job places, its completeness, compliance with corporate company policy and safety regulations. - Explain company policy statements and statutory Health, Safety Environmental regulations and occupational sanitation as well to Well Operations personnel and contractors; promote and enforce adherence of all the personnel to these procedures. - Follow up the compliance with the statutory requirements, regulations, current norms, standards and rules. - Analyse and summarize the work done, reveal deficiencies and propose corrective measures. - Carry out risk assessment of each particular operation and communicate to the operations personnel. - Participate in incidents and accidents investigation. - Participate in audits conducted by the compant departments and governmental agencies.
Reports to: Drilling Engineering Team Leader
Main Interfaces Internal : Drilling Team, Completions Team, Interface Manager, Well Planning Manager External : Well Operations, Equipment Suppliers and Contractors, Facilities Engineering
Required Education & Experience: - Oil and gas related technical University degree or equivalent from an institute of higher education. Have formal qualifications in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering. - At least 5 years of experience in Drilling and Workover activities and operations. - At least 3 years experience in Field Development Planning activities. - Prior experience with high pressure and sour gas wells. - Planning and design of wells greater than 4000m vertical depth. - Planning and design of high angle directional and horizontal wells. - Arctic or cold weather experience. - Solid understanding of cost-effectiveness and general commercial business issues. - Solid understanding of technological regimes and solutions. - Solid appreciation of formal assurance processes and well delivery requirements. - Knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and HSE management.
Skills - Understanding of documentation, standards and technical procedures relating to the operational and business activities within drilling. - Contracting and procurement of drilling tangibles and services. - Drilling equipment familiarization and its operational regulations. - Engineering requirements applied to work carried out by rig operations unit - Labour legislation basics; occupational labour and health protection regulations in relation to drilling operations. - Strong analytical approach to solve technically complex problems. - Good skills with PC in Windows environment. - Have ability to work with Landmark spreadsheet applications for stress analyses (Stress Check, WellCat, Compass, etc). - Very good oral, presentation and written communication skills in English. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with various operational units and with a variety of nationalities and educational levels. - Ability to work within a multi-cultural environment on various well planning and engineering teams concurrently. |
